Our Work

Evidence in Allergy's work includes conducting innovative clinical trials and observational studies, to synthesizing the totality of evidence, guidelines for optimal care, and knowledge translation. Browse some of our ongoing and completed projects below and links to see more or join us.
TITAN is a multicentre study that will answer many key problems such as food sensitivity, the severity of allergic reactions, misdiagnosis and more.
TRADE is a first of a kind randomized clinical trial aimed at testing a new way of thinking about food allergy treatments.
The Food Allergy CollaboraTion is the world's first project bringing together investigators around the world to understand the full spectrum of food allergy sensitivity and severity.
Peanut oral immunotherapy with or without H1- and H2- antihistamine premedication for peanut allergy (PISCES): a placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial
Canada-Food Allergy Risk Management (ARM) 1 is a study to quantitate peanut allergen reaction thresholds

Guidelines and Evidence Synthesis

The Evidence in Allergy team provides critical methodological support to international organizations including the World Health Organization, AAAAI/ACAAAI Joint Task Force on Practice Parameters, EAACI, and the World Allergy Organization.

Guidelines

The Evidence in Allergy group helps shape optimal care through systematically developed statements to assist practitioner and patient decisions about appropriate health care for specific clinical circumstances.

Evidence Syntheses

Evidence in Allergy helps bridge the knowledge gap with regards to relevant information on important research questions while establishing best-practice guidance to help inform clinicians and patients.

Knowledge Translation

Our team synthesises, disseminates, reviews and exchanges evidence based ethically-sound knowledge to help improve the health and well being of those who suffer from all forms of allergies.

Indigenous Health and Knowing
Truth and Reconciliation are important initiatives. We collaborate closely with partners in Indigenous Health to achieve this goal and address inequity to optimal health care.

One of our first steps is understanding the scope of the problem. Allying with and mentoring Dr. Dr. Rachel Netahe Asiniwasis. Dermatologist, MD, FRCPC, DABD, we are leading a team to conduct a systematic scoping review of the impact of skin and allergic and atopic diseases on Indigenous Health across North America. These findings will serve as the basis for implementing change towards Truth and Reconciliation.

Patient and Family Partners
Allergies affect 1 in every 3 individuals and can have wide-ranging and serious impacts on quality of life. We recognize that understanding the patient experience is central to optimal health outcomes. This is precisely why in all our studies we partner with patients and caregivers to integrate their input throughout each study's life cycle to ensure that the patient voice is front and centre and that our study findings resonate well with patients.
